O’Neill Public School sent out a news release with an explanation and details of the after-school program “Developing Eagles”, which will not be offered for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.  The release is below:

July 7, 2025

Fellow O’Neill Community Members-

Last mong, we shared a letter regarding the future of the Developing Eagles program.  At that time, we communicated the need for four full-time adult staff members in order to sustain the program.

Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to secure the consistent staffing required. As a result, we regret to inform you that Developing Eagles will not be offered during the 2025-2026 school year.

This has been a difficult decision, as Developing Eagles has been a valued and integral part of the O’Neill Elementary School community for the past 22 years.  The program has served thousands of students and positively impacted countless families, staff members, and community members.

While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we believe it is the most responsible decision given our current staffing limitations.  Without a full-staffed team, we are unable to deliver the level of care and support our students deserve.

We sincerely thank you for your understanding, and we are grateful for your continued support of O’Neill Elementary School

Thank you,
Mr. Mike Rotherham, Superintendent & Mr. Jim York, Elementary Principal
