The North Central RC&D will host the Lick Tub Challenge again at the 2025 Sandhills Ranch Expo. If you are creative and innovative, this is an opportunity to be rewarded with cash prizes! The challenge is to find a new use for empty, old mineral tubs.
Entries are due by noon on Wednesday, June 18th, at the North Central RC&D booth in the Rock County Community Center. Judges will score the repurposed lick tubs on usefulness, originality, and feasibility. There will be youth and adult divisions and a people’s choice award.
Cash prizes are sponsored by Anson’s Feed & Trucking in Atkinson, Long Pine Feed from Long Pine, Rio Nutrition out of Valentine, Suther Feeds in Verdigre, and Vitalix, Inc. from Broken Bow. “The piles and piles of empty, plastic mineral tubs are often a topic of conversation at our meetings,” says Mike Burge, chairman of the North Central RC&D. “This is an opportunity to win money for transforming waste into something functional or attractive.”
