
On Friday April 24th O’Neill High School hosted the NSAA District III Music Contest. 13 schools brought over 160 performances that were judged throughout the day.
O’Neill had 29 entries earning 18 Superior and 11 Excellent ratings along with many extra awards.
Results for O’Neill High School:
Concert Band and Stage Band earned Superior ratings along with District Medalist honors.
In addition NSAA Most Outstanding Awards went to the Superior performances of Logan (French Horn Solo), and Hailey/Jailyn (Woodwind Duet).
NSAA Honorable Mention Awards were earned by the Superior performances of Alex (Trumpet Solo) and Logan/Isaac (French Horn Duet).
Other Superior ratings: Trumpet Ensemble, Flute Solo (Jailyn), Clarinet Solo (Hailey), Clarinet Solo (Celia), Bass Clarinet (Kaitlyn), Clarinet Trio (Hailey, Celia, Riley), Clarinet Duet (Hailey, Celia), Vocal Solos (Emma and Lane), Vocal Duets (Bergan/Yareli, and Bergan/Emma), Vocal Quartet (Bergan, Emma, Yareli, Carly).
Excellent Ratings: Mixed Chorus, Vocal Solos (Bergan, Addysen, Yareli, Emily, Carly, Carson), Vocal Duets (Oliver/Addysen, Addysen/Emily), Vocal Trio (Oliver, Addison, Emily), Brass Duet (Logan/Wade).
Senior Logan Bradshaw commented “Great day of making music after months of hard work. The O’Neill Band has lots of talented musicians and people that make it hard not to have a great time!”
