On Monday, March 9th, 24 O’Neill High School Band members traveled to Wayne, America to rehearse and perform in the 2026 Midstate Conference Festival Of Honor Bands.
The guest conductor for the Symphonic Band was Zac Konrad. He is currently the Instrumental Music Instructor at Papillion Middle School.
Symphonic Band members included: Jailyn Romesser, Anna Otte, Isaiah Cheney, Silas Spicer, Alex Nelson, Blaine Sholes, Tate Diediker, Jet Welsh, Joey York, Kiarra Kennedy, Charlotte Welsh, and Isaiah Wiekamp.
Dr. Joshua Calkin, music professor and director of bands at Wayne State College, directed the Wind Ensemble.
Representing O’Neill in the Wind Ensemble were: Kaitlyn Hinrichs, Hailey Romesser, Celia Mott, Riley Roessler, Eli Banks, Suhani Chaudhari, Alex Otte, Logan Bradshaw, Isaac Sunum, Wade Krysl, Oliver Wlaschin, and Benson Bohlender. Lily Huber was chosen but was absent.
“The Midstate Conference Band was a lot of fun because of all the music and meeting all the kids from the different schools” stated senior Wade Krysl.
