Donna Bernt, Boyd County Extension Office Manager, received the award for Outstanding Support Staff from the Nebraska Association of Extension Boards (NACEB).
This award honors those who go above and beyond in their position to provide support, organization, and communication between extension and the local areas. Bernt’s position includes the responsibilities of working with 4-H families and youth, assisting extension educators so they can excel at their jobs, along with countless tasks that come with managing an office.
Bernt started in 1984, making this her forty-first year in the position. She said her favorite part of her job was working with people and helping those who came into her office with questions.
While seven staff members make up the total of Holt/Boyd County Extension, Bernt holds down the fort in Butte on her own. She is instrumental in the success of the Boyd County Fair each year and continues to foster relationships with Boyd County families and 4-H youth.
The rest of the extension staff are grateful for her years of expertise and support.
