The Village of Butte and the Community of Butte Development Corporation released the following news:

We are excited to share two major developments in our effort to bring nursing home care back to Boyd County and the surrounding area.

First, a huge thank you to the City of Laurel for generously transferring 36 licensed nursing home beds to our communities.  This allows our communities to move forward with the reopening of our nursing home and ensuring that Laurel can do the same when that time comes, based on current certificate of need statute.  This incredible collaboration of communities brings us one step closer to reopening care in Butte under our new name: Ponca Creek Care Center.

Second, we’re thrilled to announce that our offer to purchase the former Butte Senior Living building has been accepted!  With the beds and building in place, we are now moving forward with the next steps to restore quality, local care for our seniors.

We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to Senator Barry Dekay for his unwavering advocacy, and to Dr. Steve Corsi and Dan Taylor at DHHS for their continued guidance and support throughout this process.

This is a huge step forward for Boyd County, it couldn’t have happened without the incredible collaboration and determination of everyone involved.

These two accomplishment have removed the biggest barriers that could have prevented any forward progress.  With both the beds and the building now secured, the path ahead is in our hands.  It will take the dedication and involvement of our local communities to bring senior care back where it belongs.
