Multiple Fire Departments are currently battling a range fire north of Bartlett, NE. With reports from the public reported to KBRX the fire started approximately 1-mile north of Bartlett, NE, west of Highway 281. Reports at 3:30 pm were that over 3,000 acres had burned and that fire departments were trying to keep it from jumping Highway 281. Highway 281 from Bartlett to Four Corners which is 7 miles north of Bartlett is currently closed and no traffic is allowed through. Travelers will need to find another route if they were headed that way.
Wheeler Central School in Bartlett dismissed students and buses are taking them home via safe routes.
From information we have received, Fire Departments from Bartlett, Chambers, O’Neill, Ewing, Elgin, Neligh and Oakdale as well as others have responded.
