O’Neill FCCLA Qualifies Twelve for National Competition

The O’Neill FCCLA Chapter had a very successful State Leadership Conference, which was held April 7-9th in Lincoln. Annie Corkle and Winnie Huber finished their year as Nebraska FCCLA State Officers. They were both awarded the Gold State Officer Award, which is the highest award you can receive for your work as a state officer. Annie was also the recipient of the Non-FCS Major FCCLA Scholarship. Mollie Corkle completed her term as the chairperson of the Family Leader State Peer Officer Team and the Overall SPOT Council Vice-Chair.

As a chapter, O’Neill received the Junior Mints award for increasing membership this past year as well as the Gold Chapter Award for chapter activities. Hailey Romesser was awarded the High Five Award for recruiting at least five new members this school year. Five students placed in the top three for the FCS Knowledge tests.  Earning first place were Charlotte Welsh, FCCLA Knowledge Jr; Celia Mott, Interior Design Sr; and Mollie Corkle in Parliamentary Knowledge Sr. Receiving third place were Lane Hoefer, Interior Design Jr; and Suhani Chaudhari in Nutrition Sr and Parliamentary Knowledge Sr.

O’Neill FCCLA also had twenty-three students compete in the STAR Competition. The chapter finished with eleven state champions and one state runner-up. The results of the competition are as follows:

Receiving gold medals and being named the State Champion were:

Emma Bowder-Career Investigation Level 1

Lynn Miner and Kiarra Kennedy- Chapter Service Project Display Level 1

Mia Boettcher & Isabella Wiekamp- Interior Design Level 2

Celia Mott and Hailey Romesser-National Programs in Action Level 2

Tate Diediker- Nutrition and Wellness Level 1

Suhani Chaudhari- Professional Presentation Level 2

Jailyn Romesser- Teach and Train Level 1

Receiving a silver medal and State Champion was Reagan Lindsay in Interior Design Level 1.

Receiving a gold medal and State Runner-up was Jozy York in National Programs in Action Level 1.

Other medalists included-

Emily Larsen and Polly Belmer with a gold medal and third place in Event Management Level 1

Alex Nelson with a silver medal and third place in Chapter Service Project Portfolio Level 1

Taaller Miller and Zuri Moore with a gold medal and fourth place in Chapter Service Project Display Level 3

Lane Hoefer, Addie Sigler, Charly Svoboda with a silver medal and fourth place in Focus on Children Level 2

Calli Tomjack and Maliyah Maas with a silver medal & sixth place in Focus on Children Level 1

Charlotte Welsh with a silver medal & seventh place in Repurpose and Redesign 2

 

The 2024 National Leadership Conference will be held June 29-July 3 in Seattle, Washington.
