Details: Shaffer entered Hwy 20 from Hwy 275 Junction and continued west bound. Shaffer accelerated to the speed limit and observed two black calves in the lane of traffic. One of the calves, belonging to Dan Schneider, was struck by the front right corner of the vehicle and killed. The calf skidded off the road to the south of Hwy 20 where it came to rest. Shaffer continued to travel west by southwest while applying the brakes before exiting the roadway and entering the south ditch, before coming to rest near the cowboy trail. Shaffer then drove the vehicle back onto the highway and drove back to the point of impact to contact law enforcement. One passenger was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital by the Page Ambulance.
