O’Neill 5th & 6th Grade Band Members Attend Neligh-Oakdale Honor Band

On Saturday, April 27th, 24 O’Neill 5th and 6th Grade Band Students traveled to Neigh to rehearse and perform in the 11th Annual Neigh-Oakdale Elementary Honor Bands. The Honor bands were started, organized and the vision of the late Nate Metschke.

The 5th grade band was under the direction of Dr. Josh Calkin, associate professor at WSC. Emily Bond from Lincoln Christian directed the 6th Grade Band, and Chad Barnhill once again composed, rehearsed and directed the Drum Ensemble. “It’s always an awesome day when you see 400+ elementary kids making music together. I’m glad we could carry on Nate’s tradition and keep this going.” commented director Chad Dean.
