Pressurized water is back on in the Village of Center for toilet flushing, but there is a BOIL WATER ORDER until further notice.  Also, Hyvee East in Norfolk has donated an entire pallet of bottled water that will be available for residents for drinking and cooking.   It will be available in front of the Knox County Courthouse.

We have received unofficial word that: According to the techs in the trenches, they have the damaged lines capped off and valved off, isolating the leak and pressurized water for the village will soon be restored.

At approximately 9:50 pm Monday, May 11, 2026, a vehicle hit a fire hydrant in the community of Center, Nebraska.  The accident also damaged a water line beneath the surface.

This has resulted in the Village of Center being without water for residents.  As of 8 am this morning, porta-potties have been set up on Main Street in Center and also the Knox County Emergency Management does have bottled water available for pickup outside of the courthouse.  Also, for residents of Center, do not use your household water if any is available until the water has been tested once repairs are complete.

As of 8:00 am Tuesday, May 12, crews are working to fix the water line break.

Today, May 12, is Primary Election Day.  The Knox County Courthouse will be open for residents voting in the May Primary Election.
