
ORCHARD – Even though the Tri-County Seniors collected 10 hits to Ponca’s six, they still fell 12-7 on Monday. Wyatt Shabram led Tri-County Titan Seniors with three hits.
Shabram collected three hits in four at bats in the loss. He doubled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
The Titans got on the board in the first inning after Connor Thomson drew a walk, scoring one run.
Jace Wahls singled down the left field line on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, which helped Ponca tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
Ponca Post 117 flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring six runs on one hit to take the lead, 7-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a fielder’s choice by Jace Wahls that drove in two.
The Ponca Seniors added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Trystan Bevelhymer singled down the right field line, and Nolan Janssen lined out, each scoring one run.
Bradley Lentz earned the win for the Ponca Seniors. Lentz allowed four hits and four runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two. Max Bruce took the loss for Tri-County. Bruce went one and one-third innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on three hits and walking four. Trystan Bevelhymer started the game for Ponca. Bevelhymer surrendered one hit and one run over one and two-thirds innings while walking two.
The Tri-County Titans collected 10 hits in the game. Coy Wickersham drove the middle of the lineup, leading Tri-County with two runs batted in. He went 1-for-3 on the day. Ryan Rifer collected two hits for Tri-County in three at bats. Wickersham and Dane Miller each stole multiple bases for Tri-County. The Titan Seniors worked the count all day, collecting six walks, and stole eight bases in the game.
The loss ends the Titans season with an 11-8 record. Ponca seniors advance to the Orchard area 1 tournament championship game vs. Hartington seniors at 5:00 pm Tuesday, July 29.
