
O’NEILL – The Pinnacle Bank Irish Juniors easily dispatched Tri-county Titans on Thursday, 16-2.
Irish Juniors got on the board in the first inning after Max Berg singled, scoring one run. The Irish added one run in the second after Nate Brown grounded out.
O’Neill extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI walks by Xzavier Parks and Lane Boelter.
The Irish scored eight runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning. Max Henn singled, scoring two runs, Daniel Kluver singled, scoring two runs, Brown singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored two runs.
Parks earned the win for the Irish. He allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking one. Isaac Mendoza took the loss for Tri-county Titans. The hurler went three innings, surrendering five runs on four hits, striking out one and walking seven. Drake Berg tossed one inning of shutout ball for Irish Juniors 16U in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking none.
The Irish Juniors tallied 12 hits in the game. Henn, Berg, Brown, and Boelter each collected two hits for O’Neill. Brown led the Irish with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Parks led O’Neill with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. James Eby stole two bases.
Landon Nelson led Tri-county Titans with one run batted in. Jason Shaver and Mendoza each collected one hit for Tri-county Titans.
The Irish Juniors will travel to Wayne and Wakefield for a tournament this weekend!
