O’NEILL – On Saturday, April 26th the JH Lady Eagles traveled to Albion for the JH Midstate Conference Track Meet hosted by Boone Central High School. The meet was divided into two divisions 7th Grade & 8th Grade. The 7th Graders took home 5th place as a team and the 8th Graders ended the day in 3rd place overall.
Despite the cold and rainy conditions, the Lady Eagles had some standout performances on the track and in the field. In the field, O’Neill throwers led the way with Brianna Kallhoff taking 1st in the 7th Grade girls shot put with a throw of 30’ 6”. Tandi Shoemaker was not far behind, earning herself 4th place with a throw of 27’ 0.5”. Kallhoff also earned 5th place in the 7th-grade girls’ discus, throwing it 63’ 3”. Jozy York found herself on the 8th Grade medal stand for shot put and discus. She earned 3rd place in the shot put with a throw of 26’ 09” and 2nd place in the discus with a throw of 84’ 03”.
In other field events, Blakely Sudbeck won the 8th Grade girls’ high jump clearing 4’ 10”. She also earned herself 1st place in this event. Reese Boetcher also found herself on the medal stand in high jump clearing 4’ 4” for a 4th place finish. 7th Grader Zooey Hilger earned 5th place in the triple jump with a jump of 27’ 02”. Taylee Wade earned herself a top medal with a long jump of 14’ 7” earning herself 2nd place in the 8th Grade division. She was just 0.5 inches from the top mark on the day. Two eagles found themselves on the medal stand in Pole Vault Reagan Lindsay cleared 5’ 6” to earn 6th place and Marissa Grosch cleared 6’6” to earn 2nd place.

The Lady Eagles also found success on the track. Blakely Sudbeck ran the 100M Dash in 13.47 to earn 2nd Place in the 8th Grade event. Taylee Wade won the 200M dash for the 8th Grade with a time of 29.53. In the 7th Grade 200M hurdles Zooey Hilger ran a 37.48 to earn 6th place in the event and she was just trailing Madisyn Eichelberger who ran a 37.25 earning 5th place.

The Eagle relay teams earned top finishes as well. The 8th Grade 4x100M Relay team of Taylee Wade, Addison Engelhaupt, Reagan Lindsay & Blakely Sudbeck earned 2nd place with a 55.91 time. Then in the 7th grade 4x400M Relay, Madisyn Eichelberger, Lianna Murphy, Jaidyn Owens and Marissa Grosch ran a 4:54.72 to earn 3rd place.

The Eagles travel to Ord on Thursday for their final meet of the year.
