On Tuesday, April 15th the N-V track team traveled to Neligh for the Neligh-Oakdale Invite.  It was another beautiful day for a track meet, and the Cougar athletes set many personal bests.  The kids performed very well setting one school record, two Neligh stadium records, and coming within 0.1 of another school record!

Nine teams competed in this track meet Elgin Public/Pope John, Elkhorn Valley, Fullerton, Humphrey-Lindsay, Madison, Neligh-Oakdale, Niobrara-Verdigre, Osmond, and Plainview.

In the end, the N-V girls team won the runner-up team trophy falling just 14 points behind Elkhorn Valley (116-130)!  And the boys team finished in a very solid 5th place.

Some highlights of the meet included… Delani Runnels winning 3 individual gold medals (800M, 1600M, 3200M) all while setting new stadium records in the 1600M and 3200M.  Allison Sucha winning 2 golds (100M hurdles & 300M hurdles) and 2 silvers (long jump & triple jump).  Arlan Lammers winning high jump.  Wyatt Shabram winning 3 medals (110M hurdles 2nd, high jump 5th, & 4x400M 6th.  Wyatt also joined Alex Motacek as the first two N-V athletes to compete in pole vault.  Wyatt broke Alex’s school record set just 6 days ago with a vault of 9-0.  That finished him tied for 6th place.
