On Friday on a hot and windy day in Kearney, it was Ainsworth Senior Katherine Kerrigan who came out on top in the Girls Class D State Cross Country Meet. Kerrigan claimed first in a time of 20:00.19.
Other area medalists included Delaney Runnels of Niobrara-Verdigre (6th), Angela Frick of North Central (9th) and Emma Kennedy of Ainsworth (10th).
Kerrigan and Kennedy helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a team runner-up finish, with 36 total points. They were just 3 points behind champion Hemingford.
In the class C girls race, Taya Dickau of O’Neill was the lone area representative. She finished 72nd in a time of 24:01.
On the boys side, the only medalist from the KBRX area was Drew Martin of West Holt. He finished 13th in a time of 17:39.4. Boyd County was the top team finisher, coming in 10th with 103 points.
