10U Irish Baseball Wins the Oakland-Craig Tournament!

Oakland – The O’Neill Irish 10U baseball team traveled to Oakland, Nebraska for the Oakland-Craig Tournament and returned home as tournament champions!

 

 

The team saw a dominant weekend on the mound from their entire pitching staff, giving up only one run over the course of three games against tough competition in Oakland, Nebraska.

The first game against Oakland-Craig ended 10-0 after four innings. Ruxen Sudbeck pitched three innings of no-hit baseball, and the game was closed by Kord Sibbel. Offensively, the team had nine hits, led by Sibbel and Jude York with two apiece.

The semi-final game was a close 2-1 game against Pender-Bancroft. Jude York pitched a complete game, striking out 16 of the 18 batters he faced, giving up one hit and one walk. Offensively, the Irish were patient at the plate, earning seven walks and four hits. York and Will KinKennon brought in one RBI each.

The championship game was started by KinKennon, who threw three innings of two-hit baseball. The game was closed by Sudbeck, who threw two innings of shutout ball. Offensively, the team was led by Owen Barelmann, who had two hits and three RBIs.

Overall, the team played great defense, had quality at-bats, and got better with each game. Their next tournament will be in Wakefield, the weekend of June 5th.
