Burwell – The Cross Country season is underway, and the Burwell Cross Country Invite featured a lot of local flavor! 16 runners placed individually (7 boys, 9 girls), 2 of which were individual champions, and several more will bring some hardware home! 4 teams bring home medals as well, leading to an overall great start to the Cross Country season for many teams! SR Kellen Monasterio ran a 14:22.26 to secure 1st place in the boys meet, JR Delanie Runnels finished in 1st place running 16:03.60!
Niobrara/Verdigre placed 2nd in the Boys meet with 27 points and were led by FR Carson Janak (10th place, 16:43.46), SO Levi Hoeffer (12th place, 16:53.80), & SR Izaac Bakoc (13th place, 17:13.29). SR Josiah Heerdegen finished in 27th (20:47.68) and SR Jacob Pavelka placed 30th (22:37.00)
West Holt was right behind Niobrara/Verdigre with 34 points, bringing home 3rd place. The Huskies were led by the Individual Champion SR Kellen Monasterio (14:22.26) & SR Alex Gotschall (14th Place, 17:18.09). JR Jacob Panning finished in 28th for West Holt (21:20.40)
Our last area team, Summerland, finish in 6th place with 47 team points. SO Luke Kester led the Bobcat runners, finishing in 7th place (15:58.99). JR Zander Cepel placed 22nd (19:07.94) & SO Jorden Cox finished in 31st place (26:39.02)
The West Holt Lady Huskies finish in 2nd place as a team with 5 runners in the top 15! JR Felycia Kerkman recorded the best time for West Holt, finishing in 4th place (17:41.10), SR Ava Hoffman placed 7th (18:28.30), JR Kearsten Keogh was right behind her in 8th place (18:48.90), SR Anel Monasterio was right behind both of them in 9th place (19:01.30), and FR Yazmin Zamora wrapped up a great meet for West Holt finishing in 11th (20:26.90).
Stuart finish in 3rd place in the Girls meet and SO Annie Ludwig led the squad finishing in 5th place (17:52.20). SO Bella Hipke was just outside the top 15, finishing in 16th (24:13.20), and JR Chelseay Dennis wraps up the times for Stuart placing 19th (29:30.10).
