Schrunk Boys Earn Gold at State Junior High Rodeo Finals

The Nebraska Junior High State Rodeo Finals were held Thursday and Friday in Albion, Nebraska. Cowboys and cowgirls from across the state were competing for a chance to qualify for the National Junior High Finals in Des Moines, Iowa from June 22nd thru the 28th. Competitors had to place in the top 4 in each event to qualify for Nationals.

Kooper Schrunk of Pender ended the year as the All-Around Cowboy. He earned a State Championship in Goat Tying and was the reserve champion in Tie Down, Calf Roping, Chute Dogging, and Ribbon Roping. He will also be an alternate in team roping. His horse Nolan is the boys AQHA Horse of the year.

Kooper’s little brother Kolin ended the year as a champion in Bareback Steer Riding. He finished 6th in goat tying, 10th in Ribbon Roping and team roping, while placing 11th in Breakaway.

The Schrunk boys are the grandsons of Richard and Suzanne Schrunk of Emmet.
