NORFOLK – The Fairplay Golf Course in Norfolk hosted the District C-3 Golf Tournament on Monday, May 19th.
The teams competing at the C-3 District Tournament were Battle Creek, Cedar Catholic, Crofton, Elkhorn Valley, Homer, Laurel-CC, Norfolk Catholic, Pender, Pierce, Plainview, Ponca, Summerland, Tri County Northeast, Wakefield, West Holt, and Winnebago. The top 3 teams and the top 10 individual golfers would earn the chance to move on to the Class C State Golf Tournament next week.
The Norfolk Knights came away victorious as they shot a 309 to take the C-3 District Championship! The Knights were led by William Brockhaus as he shot a 72 finish as the C-3 District Champion. Gage Yosten also placed in the top 5 individually as he shot a 77. Callen Marshall wasn’t too far behind as he placed 6th while shooting a 78. The Knights qualified for the Class C State Tournament next week with the team of Brockhaus, Yosten, Marshall, Brayden Kosch, and Levi Hoesing. The Knights are coached by Bill LaFleur.
The West Holt Huskies were the team from the area that finished with the best score of 337. Unfortunately, the Huskies finished missed a third place finish by one stroke and finished in a tie for 4th. Neither the Huskies nor any area team competing in the C-3 District Tournament finish with an individual state qualifier.
