O’Neill has Strong Performances at Dan Gee Track Invitational

Grand Island, NE — Athletes from across the region gathered at Grand Island Northwest High School for the annual Dan Gee Track Invitational, where local competitors delivered strong performances across several events.

Maddie Heiss had an impressive showing on the track, placing 8th in the 100-meter dash and racing to a 3rd-place finish in the 200-meter dash, showcasing her sprinting versatility.

In the boys’ 110-meter high hurdles, Pryor Mathews secured 3rd place, closely followed by teammate Ian Yates, who finished 4th. Mathews also competed in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, where he placed 8th against a competitive field.

The girls’ 4×800-meter relay team — featuring Taya Dickau, Hannah Hilker, Ashley Sidak, and Molle Corkle — earned an 8th-place finish with a strong team effort.

In the field events, Mariah Kallhoff delivered a standout performance by taking 3rd place in the shot put and adding an 8th-place finish in the discus. Brook Cahoy also represented the team well in the pole vault, placing 5th.

The Dan Gee Track Invitational proved to be a day of strong performances, with local athletes earning top finishes and setting the tone for the remainder of the season.
