The Little League World Series is going on this week in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and one of the players competing in it has local ties. And not only local ties, but she is also the only girl on the team.
Carsynn Meyer is the 12-year-old daughter of Seth & Tiffany Meyer. Seth is a 1997 graduate of Orchard High School and is the son of Teri and the late Jerry Meyer. Carsynn has many relatives in the KBRX listening area. Carsynn plays for the Paseo Verde Little League team out of Henderson, Nevada. Carsynn has been playing Little League for about four years and is just the 26th girl to play in the Little League World Series, which started in August 1947. However, this year she is not the only girl in the World Series, as Kinley Rasmus of the Phenix City, Alabama team, playing for the Southeast Region, is also competing. Rasmus is the daughter of former Major League pitcher Cory Rasmus, who played for the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Angels.

In the Little League World Series, Carsynn’s team is referred to as the Mountain Region Team. They have already played one game in the World Series with a win over the Great Lakes Region team on Friday, August 21, in a close game, 6-to-5. Their next game will be on Sunday, August 23 at 8 am Central Time as they play the Northwest Region Team. This game will be on ESPN. In the double-elimination tournament, if Carsynn’s team makes it to the championship, that game is scheduled for August 30.
