

The Nebraska State Bandmasters Association held their 64th annual state convention on March 6th-8th in Lincoln, NE.
During this convention, four O’Neill High School band alumni performed in two different ensembles.
The convention kicked off Thursday night with the Northeast Area Jazz Ensemble.
Performing from O’Neill were and Jeremy Von Lau (OHS ’13) on vibes and congas and Lincoln Havranek (OHS ’05) on tenor saxophone Both had solos during the jazz band’s concert.
The convention concluded Saturday afternoon with the Nebraska Intercollegiate Honor Band.
Performing in the honor band were Christopher Jennings (OHS ’21) playing trombone and attending Chadron State as well as Kyler Dean (OHS ’23) playing euphonium and attending NECC.
This was Christopher’s 4th year performing in this honor band. He sat 1st chair and had a solo as well.
Christopher commented “I enjoyed going all these years. It was a great experience!”
