Marvin leads Lady Eagles to a successful Northeast Nebraska Classic

O’Neill – The O’Neill Girls track team was fortunate enough to have 14 athletes qualify for the Northeast Nebraska Track and Field Classic. Despite very windy conditions, the Lady Eagles were able to pick up 11 medals on the day.

Mikayla Marvin found success again this meet by winning the pole vault with her best vault of the year, 11-1.

Blair and Aurora Gutshall both placed in the 100 high hurdles. Blair finished in 3rd with a time of 16.16 and Aurora finished in 5th with her best time of the year, 16.28.

Meg Schluns placed 5th in the long jump going 16-3 and Emma Krysl placed 6th in the shot put with a throw of 34-6.5.

All 3 relays teams placed at the meet. The 4 x 800 team of Briaunna Parks, Lilly Thompson, Claire Morrow and Payton Birkel place 6th; the 4 x 100 team of Alyssa Eichelberger, Blair Gutshall, Meg Schluns and Taya Rainforth placed 3rd and the 4 x 400 team of Meg Schluns, Lilly Thompson, Alyssa Eichelberger and Blair Gutshall placed 5th.

Other athletes competing were Whitney Watson in the 3200 and Gabbie Scott in the discus. Samantha Eichelberger qualified in the 100M dash and the 300 low hurdles, but was held out due to an injury.

“Despite some windy weather, we were able to get a lot of girls placing in the meet. It was nice to get 14 athletes qualified for the meet.”
