Officer Presented with Life Saving Award

On May 12th, 2014, K-9 Officer Wilson, with the O'Neill Police Department, observed and radioed in to the Boyd/Holt E911 Dispatch Center a residential structure fire during the early morning hours.  K-9 Officer Wilson met two residents exiting the house and they advised their adult son was still in the basement.  K-9 Officer Wilson proceeded to the northeast basement window, removed the window, and woke the male.  K-9 Officer attempted to help the male through the window but the window was too small.  the male barely escaped the basement and residence before the entrance to the basement collapsed.

K-9 Officer Wilson was nominated for the Life Saving Award through the National Awards Program which is a program included in the American Police Hall of Fame.  After review of the nomination by the Award Committee, it was determined K-9 Officer Wilson would be issued the Life Saving Award.  K-9 Officer Wilson was presented the Life Saving Award on August 14,2014 by Mayor Bill Price, Chief Matt Otte, and Sergeant Robert Jensen.
