The Orchard Public Library will be holding a Used Book Sale Saturday, April 18th through Saturday, May 2nd.


Bargain Buyway Luncheon & 25 cent Store will be held Friday, April 24th from 8 to 6:30 p.m. for the 25 cent store and Saturday's hours are 8 to 5.  This will be at the Stuart Community Church. Breakfast rolls or bars will be served with coffee on both days, free will donation.  Luncheon will be the 24th from 11 a.m. to whenever with free will donation.  They will also be serving lunch on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. 25 cent store will be everything for 25 cents except furniture for $3.  Call 402-340-2273 or 402-340-2662 with any questions.


The Pischelville Pancake and Sausage Feed will be held Saturday, April 25th from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Pischelville ZCBJ Hall, southwest of Verdel

The Stuart American Legion, Norton-Carlisle Post #115 will have a Fish Fry, Saturday 25 April 2015 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Cole slaw, French fries, beans and a desert will be served. Preschool is free, Kinder garden to 11 is $5,00, 12 and over is $8.00. Funds will go towards bringing the Vietnam Moving Wall to Stuart in June.

The Paddock Union Cemetery Annual Meeting will be held Saturday, April 25 at 8:00 pm at the Delbert Rouse ranch 1/2 mile west and 1 mile north of the cemetery.

Shamrock Ringers Horseshoe Tournament will be held Saturday, April 25th at CarneyPark - Jamison Courts at 1 p.m.  This is a NHPA Sanctioned tournament and 110% of the entry fee is returned in prize money. For more information call 402-482-5717


The Oakdale Fire Department will be holding their 6th Annual Gun Show, April 25th and 26th at the Commnity Center in Oakdale. The show will run from 9Am to 5PM on Saturday and 9AM to 4PM on Sunday. Good Food will be served, admission is $4 for adaults, and kids are free with an adult. Preceeds from this show go to buy equipment for the Fire Department. Rough Rider Saddle Club invites you to a ride through the Niobrara State Park on Sunday, April 26th.  Gather at 1 p.m. and the ride begins at 2 p.m. at the arena in Niobrara.  Members and non members are welcome.  Potluck meal in between, have your potluck to arena by 1:30 p.m. so it can be taken to the Buffalo Barn. LifeServe Blood Center will hold a blood drive on Monday, April 27 from 2 pm to 6 pm at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill. Walk in's are welcome.

The Atkinson Antique Club will meet on Monday, April 27 at 6:30 pm at The Alley in Atkinson. The lesson will be on local memorabilia.

Chambers FCCLA will be hosting the Red Cross Bloodmobile in Chambers on Tuesday, April 28 from 10-4 at the American Legion in Chambers. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN DATE. Relay for Life of Holt County Committee and Team Captain Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 29th at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at Cubby's.  We are "Cruising for a Cure" this year and we need your help. The O'Neill Rotary Club is presenting the Holt & Boyd County Girls on the Run Event on Friday, May 8th at 5:30 p.m. at Ford Park in O'Neill.  On site registration will be held from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. that day.  Cost is $25 to register that day and does not include a shirt.


In honor of National Foster Care Month, Building Blocks cordially invites you to join us at our Open House event on Friday, May 15th at the O'Neill Office located at 118 North 5th Street from 10 to 11 a.m.  Building Blocks would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our foster parents and respite providers for their hard work and dedication to children. An open house honoring retiring Clearwater/Orchard teachers, Paul Horman, Betty Schomberg, and Donna Ziems, will be held on Sunday, May 17th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the Clearwater School.  A short presentation will be held beginning at 3:00 p.m.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend.  


The O'Neill Head Start is currently taking applica;tions for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year.  This is for a morning class only. We serve children ages 3 and 4 in our Preschool.  Children with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.  There is no cost for your child to attend Lucky Learners.  If interested please call 402-336-4309 to schedule a time to fill out an application.

Atkinson Head Start 2015/2016 School Year

The Atkinson Head Start Center is taking applications for the 2015/2016 school year.  Clients must bring copy of income verification documents (most current income tax form, or a year's worth of paycheck stubs etc.) to attach to the completed application form.
Children must be 3-4 years old to be eligible.  Children with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.  It is not necessary for children to be present for the application process.
Your cooperation in coming to the Head Start Center to put in your application will be appreciated.  For more information call the Head Start Staff at 402-925-2058 or stop in at 406 East 2nd Street Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Head Start is a comprehensive child development program sponsored by Central Nebraska Community Services, Loup City, NE.
