Ranchland Art Group artist Ranell Otte will display her latest watercolor paintings and greeting cards at the O’Neill Public Library from May 1-May 29th. Some of the works were inspired by poetry, written by her brother, Dwaine Spieker


Lunch and Learn at West Holt Hospital Board Room on Wednesday, May 27th with your choice of two sessions, 12 to 12:30 or 12:30 to 1 p.m. with the topic being Learn How to Have Sleep, Super Sleep.  Paula Davis, the Director of Respiratory Care at West Holt Medical Services will be the speaker. You are invited to a Bridal Shower hosted by the Chambers Class of 2007 for Callie Watson, fiance of Brady Pavel.  This will be Friday, May 29th at 7:30 p.m. at the Chambers Community Center.  Brady and Callie are registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Lowes & Nebraska Furniture Mart.

The first summer Boots & Saddle Club horse show will be held Sunday, May 31st at Carney Park in south O'Neill.  Starting with registration at 9:30 and the show beginning at 10 a.m.  There will be halter classes, lead line, Pleasure, Ball n Barrel, ribbon race, western riding, poles and barrels. 


Due to the planned power outage by the electric company, the Wheeler County Courthouse will be closed Monday, June 1st.  We will reopen with regular business hours on Tuesday, June 2nd. 

There will be an American Red Cross Bloodmobile in O'Neill on Monday and Tuesday, June 1 & 2 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in west O'Neill.  Monday June 1 from noon to 6 pm and Tuesday, June 2 from 10 am to 3:30 pm. To make an appointment to give blood, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).


'Every Hero Has A Story' is the theme for the 2015 Summer Reading program at the Lynch Public Library, which starts on Monday, June 1st, and will be held every Monday from 1:30 to 2:30 P. M. in June and July. All kids are welcome.

The Treasurer's Office in the Wheeler County Courthouse will be open on Friday, June 5th from 9 to 12 noon and then closed from 1 to 5 p.m.

Vacation Bible School, June 3rd through the 5th

Christ Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian will be hosting a Vacation Bible school on June 3rd-5th. The Vacation Bible school will be held at Christ Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m- 12:00 p.m for children ages preschool- 6th grade. You may pick up a registration form at either church starting May 12th or register the morning of June 3rd. We look forward to seeing you at Vacation Bible School as we learn about Proclaiming God's Name! 

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chambers is holding a Vacation Bible School June 3-5th with times from 1 to 4 p.m. All children 3 years old to 6th graders are welcome.  Contact 42-482-5539 for more information or pick up a packet at the Village Market in Chambers.  You must register by May 30th.


The 2015 10-11 Can Care-A-Van will again be stopping in O'Neill on Monday, June 8th.  All monetary donations and food donations raised in O'Neill that day will go to the Central Nebraska Community Services Food Pantry.  The Casey's parking lot will again be the collection point.  There will be a tent set up and feel free to bring food or monetary donations to the site.  Each $1 donated equals 2 pounds of food!  Again this will be at the Casey's parking lot Monday, June 8th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursday, June 18th through Monday, June 22nd

The Stuart American Legion invites you to visit the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall in the City Park from Thursday, June 18th through Monday, June 22nd.  Access is 24 hours per day with a special program on Saturday, June 20th. at 2 p.m.

Atkinson Head Start 2015/2016 School Year

The Atkinson Head Start Center is taking applications for the 2015/2016 school year.  Clients must bring copy of income verification documents (most current income tax form, or a year's worth of paycheck stubs etc.) to attach to the completed application form.
Children must be 3-4 years old to be eligible.  Children with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.  It is not necessary for children to be present for the application process.
Your cooperation in coming to the Head Start Center to put in your application will be appreciated.  For more information call the Head Start Staff at 402-925-2058 or stop in at 406 East 2nd Street Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Head Start is a comprehensive child development program sponsored by Central Nebraska Community Services, Loup City, NE.
