Memorial Day Trash Pickup


Memorial Day Trash Pickup for  the City of O'Neill will be on Tuesday, May 26th.  The Landfill and the Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, May 25th.

Ranchland Art Group artist Ranell Otte will display her latest watercolor paintings and greeting cards at the O’Neill Public Library from May 1-May 29th. Some of the works were inspired by poetry, written by her brother, Dwaine Spieker

FRIDAY, MAY 22ND


The USDA Service Center in O'Neill will be closing at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22nd and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26th due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Relay for Life Golf Tournament sponsored by O'Neill Family Pharmacy will be held Friday, May 22nd at 5:30 p.m. at the O'Neill Country Club.  This is a 4 person scramble with $35/person entry fee.  Meal and prizes are included.  Pre-register by contacting O'Neill Family Pharmacy 402-336-2660 or the O'Neill Country Club at 402-336-1676.  You can also register the day of the tournament. 

The O'Neill American Legion Post 93 will put up the Avenue of Flags at the O'Neill Cemetery on Friday, May 22nd at 5 p.m.  Legion members and all volunteers help is needed and welcomed to put up and take down the flags.  Meet at the cemetery.

The Board of Health for the North Central District Health Department will be holding their regular business meeting on Friday, May 22nd with roll call starting at 10:30 a.m.  This meeting will take place at the office of North Central District Health Department, located at 422 East Douglas Street in O'Neill.  A current agenda and meeting minutes are available at the District Health Department's office. 

The Marvin Johnson Family (aka the K-7 Buckaroos) will be hosting a Road Rally Fundraiser this Friday, May 22nd. Registration is from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Main & Windom in Orchard NE. This event is a game of I Spy, with a scavenger hunt with a few twists and turns involved all while enjoying the scenery in your "Merry Oldsmobile" or Ford, or Chevy... Load up the car! $25.00 / car entry fee. Proceeds will go to Alzheimer's Research and Awareness. 

SATURDAY MAY 23RD


There will be a Hot Dog Stand and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 23rd in the Super Foods parking lot from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A hot dog is only 50 cents and includes a free glass of pop. The bake sale includes homemade pies.  All proceeds go to the Relay for Life, team Papa Don's Crusaders. 

Molly's Miracle Makers 2015 Curesearch Fundraiser will be held Saturday, May 23rd with the gates opening at 5 p.m. at the Holt County Fairgrounds in Chambers.  At 5:30 will be the free will donation BBQ; 6:30 p.m. is live music, 8 p.m. Charity Auction, 9:30 p.m. is the Dedication to kids with Cancer and 10 p.m. is the fireworks show.  All proceeds from this event to benefit CureSearch for Children's Cancer

SUNDAY, MAY 24


Ewing Fire & Rescue Breakfast will be held on May 24th from 8 am to 1 pm at the Ewing Fire Hall.  Serving pancakes, sausage, hash browns, eggs & fruit.  Free Will Donation.  Also selling raffle tickets for cash prizes, 1st - $1000, 2nd - $500, 3rd - $300, 4th & 5th - $100.  Tickets are $10 ea.  Drawing will be held at the 12 am at the Rumbles Dance.  You do not need to be present to win. 

MONDAY, MAY 25


The Chambers FCCLA National Qualifiers are hosting a Burger Meal Bash at the Chambers American Legion following the Memorial Day program. They will serve until 2 P.M. on Monday, May 25. Everyone is welcome

The O'Neill American Legion Post 93 will conduct a Memorial Day Program at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 25th at the O'Neill Cemetery.

The Annual Memorial Day Breakfast will be held on Monday, May 25th at the Kountry Korner Cafe in Page.  Pancakes, Sausage, Scrambled Eggs, Fruit, juice and coffee will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free will donation.  The American Legion Post 315 will be holding services at the Page Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

TUESDAY MAY 26TH


The Avenue of Flags at the O'Neill Cemetery will be taken down on Tuesday, May 26th at 5 p.m. by the O'Neill American Legion Post 93.  All help of members and volunteers is appreciated.  Please meet at the cemetery. 

FRIDAY MAY 29TH


You are invited to a Bridal Shower hosted by the Chambers Class of 2007 for Callie Watson, fiance of Brady Pavel.  This will be Friday, May 29th at 7:30 p.m. at the Chambers Community Center.  Brady and Callie are registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Lowes & Nebraska Furniture Mart.

The first summer Boots & Saddle Club horse show will be held Sunday, May 31st at Carney Park in south O'Neill.  Starting with registration at 9:30 and the show beginning at 10 a.m.  There will be halter classes, lead line, Pleasure, Ball n Barrel, ribbon race, western riding, poles and barrels. 

MONDAY, JUNE 1


Due to the planned power outage by the electric company, the Wheeler County Courthouse will be closed Monday, June 1st.  We will reopen with regular business hours on Tuesday, June 2nd.

The Treasurer's Office in the Wheeler County Courthouse will be open on Friday, June 5th from 9 to 12 noon and then closed from 1 to 5 p.m.

Vacation Bible School, June 3rd through the 5th


Christ Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian will be hosting a Vacation Bible school on June 3rd-5th. The Vacation Bible school will be held at Christ Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m- 12:00 p.m for children ages preschool- 6th grade. You may pick up a registration form at either church starting May 12th or register the morning of June 3rd. We look forward to seeing you at Vacation Bible School as we learn about Proclaiming God's Name! 

Thursday, June 18th through Monday, June 22nd


The Stuart American Legion invites you to visit the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall in the City Park from Thursday, June 18th through Monday, June 22nd.  Access is 24 hours per day with a special program on Saturday, June 20th. at 2 p.m.

Atkinson Head Start 2015/2016 School Year


The Atkinson Head Start Center is taking applications for the 2015/2016 school year.  Clients must bring copy of income verification documents (most current income tax form, or a year's worth of paycheck stubs etc.) to attach to the completed application form.
Children must be 3-4 years old to be eligible.  Children with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.  It is not necessary for children to be present for the application process.
