The Ranchland Art Group is currently sponsoring an Art Show in the O'Neill Public Library of Junior/Senior High School students work.  This display will be in the library from January 6th through January 30th.  All are invited to stop by the library meeting room to see some excellent art work.


Concordia Lutheran Church in Clearwater will be having a Soup Luncheon Sunday, January 25th from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  They will be serving Oyster Soup, Chili Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, Sandwiches & Desserts for a free will donation.  Gift shop items will be available.

 Souper Bowl Of Caring Soup Supper will be Sunday, Jan. 25th  5-8 pm at the Stuart Community Church. Free will donation or any type of food or paper products. All proceeds will go to the Atkinson/Stuart Food Pantry Serving Chili Chicken Noodle dessert relish drink Sponsored by: Stuart Wednesday night youth

There will be a Gun Show in Spencer Sunday, January 25th from 9-3 at the Spencer Community Hall.  This is sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion Chambers Post

Scared Heart Catholic Parishes of Boyd County, Sunday mass is at 8:30 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul in Butte and the 10:30 a.m. mass will be held at Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Lynch.  


LifeServe Blood Center will hold an O'Neill Community Blood Drive on Monday, January 26 from 2 pm to 6 pm at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

The Atkinson Antiquers will meet on Monday, January 26th at 6:30 p.m. for a dinner meeting at the Judge residence.  The lesson will be on Ironstone China.


Atkinson-Stuart Ministerial Association Soup Supper will be Tuesday, January 27,  at the West Holt School Cafeteria, beginning at 4:30. Everyone is welcome!

The Boyd County Farm Bureau will hold their quarterly meeting on Tuesday, January 27th at 7 p.m. at the Duane Mohr home in rural Butte.  All Farm Bureau members and interested parties are welcome to attend.

The Holt County Mobile Food Pantry will be held on Tuesday, January 27th starting at 6 p.m. at the O'Neill Knights of Columbus hall at 410 West Douglas.  Please take note that this is a change of location as the floors in the O'Neill Community Center cannot be walked on at this time. February 17th will be the next food pantry at the O'Neill Community Center.


Relay for Life of Holt County Kickoff Wednesday, January 28th at 7 p.m. at the meeting room at Cubby's.  We are "Cruising for a Cure" this year and we need your help.  Please help us Finish the Fight by starting a team, getting involved on the planning committee or becoming a sponsor.  Learn more by joining us for the kickoff meeting January 28th.  If you have any questions please contact Stephanie 402-750-1070


All you can eat Broasted Chicken Feast with potatoes, salad, dessert bar, dinner rolls and a drink on Friday, January 30th from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Verdigre Methodist Church. Carry out is available by calling 402-668-7280.  Cost is adults $9 and ages 5-12 $4.  Preschool age is free.

The O'Neill Public High School Student Council will be having a Blood Drive on Friday, Jaunary 30 from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm at the High School.  Walk ins are welcome.


St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh will host the Annual Super Bowl Brunch on Sunday, February 1st from 8 a.m. to 1p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Neligh.  They will be serving pancakes, French toast, sausage, eggs, pie and desserts with coffee, milk or juice.  Contact Kristen Strom 402-887-5437 or Melissa Henery 402-887-1377 with any questions.

53rd Annual Wheeler County Ground Hog Supper will be held Sunday, February 1st (snow date February 2nd) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wheeler Central Auditorium in Bartlett.  They will be serving Ground Hog, Potato, Vegetable and a Dessert.  Sponsored by the Bartlett Lions Club.

There will be an 85th Birthday Open House for Helen Kloppenborg on Sunday, February 1st from 2-4 p.m. at the KC Hall in O'Neill.  Please consider this your invitation.


There will be a Memorial Service for Tim Williams of Atkinson on Sunday, February 8th at 2 p.m. at the Roundup in Atkinson.


The O'Neill Eagles Club will have Valentine's Day Dinner on Saturday, February 14th with serving from 6 to 9 p.m.  They will be serving Prime Rib, Ribeye, New York Strip, Hamburger Steak and Shrimp, this includes salad bar, dessert and coffee.  There will be a lighter menu available. No reservations needed.  The public is welcome.


AYSO soccer sign up for the spring season is underway! The season will run from April 11th through May 16th. Registration must be done online at  Please follow the instructions on the website to get your player signed up.  This year you will not be required to print copies of your registration forms.  Please mail payments to AYSO-Region 629, P.O. Box 267 O’Neill, NE 68763.  If you need assistance with the online process, please contact Amanda Schluns at or 340-9356.  The cost of early registration is $40.  Teams will be formed beginning February 15th, so after that time the registration fee will be $50.  Please sign up early & save!

Atkinson Head Start 2015/2016 School Year

The Atkinson Head Start Center is taking applications for the 2015/2016 school year.  Clients must bring copy of income verification documents (most current income tax form, or a year's worth of paycheck stubs etc.) to attach to the completed application form.
Children must be 3-4 years old to be eligible.  Children with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.  It is not necessary for children to be present for the application process.
Your cooperation in coming to the Head Start Center to put in your application will be appreciated.  For more information call the Head Start Staff at 402-925-2058 or stop in at 406 East 2nd Street Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Head Start is a comprehensive child development program sponsored by Central Nebraska Community Services, Loup City, NE.
