Ranchland Art Group artist Ranell Otte (Ott) will display her latest watercolor paintings and greeting cards at the O’Neill Public Library from May 1-May 29th. Some of the works were inspired by poetry, written by her brother, Dwaine Spieker (Speaker).

MONDAY MAY 4TH


A car seat inspection station will be held on Monday, May 4th from 10:30 a.m to 6 p.m.  Please call 402-336-5122 to make an appointment and be sure to bring your child with you!  95% of Holt County's children are NOT correctly secured and are traveling at risk.  Don't risk the life of your child. Have trained technicians assist you wtih your child's seat!

The Royal Q125 Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 5th at 8 p.m. at the Royal Gym.  Please note the change in time!!

THURSDAY MAY 7TH


The 64th Annual National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 7th.  The theme for 2015 is Lord, Hear our Cry, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator.  Join in a National Day of Prayer event, jointly hosted by Word of Life Christian Center and O'Neill Assembly of God, on Thursday, May 7th at 7 p.m.  The event will be held in the Sanctuary of O'Neill Assembly of God at 204 North 7th Street.  Following the service, refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall. 

FRIDAY, MAY 8TH


The O'Neill Rotary Club is presenting the Holt & Boyd County Girls on the Run Event on Friday, May 8th at 5:30 p.m. at Ford Park in O'Neill.  On site registration will be held from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. that day.  Cost is $25 to register that day and does not include a shirt.

The Inman Community Church will be serving a Pan Fried Chicken Dinner on Friday, May 8 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Church. Serving pan fried chicken and all the trimmings. Cost is adults $7.50 and children under 8 $5.00

SUNDAY MAY 10TH


Mother's Day Buffet will be held at the O'Neill Eagles Club on Sunday, May 10th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Buffet includes: Turkey, Dressing, Meat Loaf and more.  Potatoes & gravy, vegetables, salad bar, dessert, coffee & tea.  Cost is $10 tax included children under 8 are $5.50 or you can order Cheeseburger/French Fries $5.50 or Chicken Strips/French Fries $6.  The public is welcome.

MONDAY, MAY 11


The O'Neill Public School Board of Education will hold its regular  meeting at the School Administrative Office at 410 East Benton in O'Neill on Monday, May 11 at 7:30 pm. The meeting will include the holding of a public hearing to discuss, consider, and receive input on the Student Fees Policy #504.19. The agenda is kept continuously current and may be reviewed at the same location.

Monday, May 11th:  To celebrate National Nursing Home week and thank the Atkinson community for their support, the Good Samaritan Society-Atkinson is grilling hot dogs downtown at the Atkinson Gazebo at 11:00 until they are gone on Monday, May 11th!  Come join us!  We are also collecting for the Atkinson Food Pantry all week, so drop off your donations at the center.  

Monday, May 11th is the Community Appreciation BBQ & Open House south of the West Holt Memorial Hospital from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  There will be free food, and entertainment for all ages.  Come and meet the new CEO Brad Pfiefer

WEDNESDAY, MAY 13


Wednesday, May 13th: The Good Samaritan Society-Atkinson is hosting a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 9:00 to celebrate the lives of those that have passed since December 2013.  If you have had a loved one that you would like honored, please call Kristy at 402-925-5050.  Coffee and rolls will be served after the service.

In honor of National Foster Care Month, Building Blocks cordially invites you to join us at our Open House event on Friday, May 15th at the O'Neill Office located at 118 North 5th Street from 10 to 11 a.m.  Building Blocks would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our foster parents and respite providers for their hard work and dedication to children. Prairie Blacksmith Association will be hosting a "Hammer In" on May 16th & 17th from 9 to 5 both days.  Come see local blacksmiths at work.  There is no admission charge.  It will be hosted by Ed Auger at the junction of 866th Road and 532 Ave. Brunswick

SUNDAY, MAY 17


An open house honoring retiring Clearwater/Orchard teachers, Paul Horman, Betty Schomberg, and Donna Ziems, will be held on Sunday, May 17th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the Clearwater School.  A short presentation will be held beginning at 3:00 p.m.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend.  

MONDAY MAY 18TH


There will be a class on Horticulture Basics 101 at the Garfield County Courthouse in Burwell on Monday, May 18th at 7 p.m. The presenter will be Elizabeth Killinger, Nebraska Extension Educator from Hall County. To register please call the Nebraska Extension Office at 308-346-4200  There is a $5 fee at the door.

Vacation Bible School, June 3rd through the 5th


Christ Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian will be hosting a Vacation Bible school on June 3rd-5th. The Vacation Bible school will be held at Christ Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m- 12:00 p.m for children ages preschool- 6th grade. You may pick up a registration form at either church starting May 12th or register the morning of June 3rd. We look forward to seeing you at Vacation Bible School as we learn about Proclaiming God's Name! 

Atkinson Head Start 2015/2016 School Year


The Atkinson Head Start Center is taking applications for the 2015/2016 school year.  Clients must bring copy of income verification documents (most current income tax form, or a year's worth of paycheck stubs etc.) to attach to the completed application form.
Children must be 3-4 years old to be eligible.  Children with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.  It is not necessary for children to be present for the application process.
Your cooperation in coming to the Head Start Center to put in your application will be appreciated.  For more information call the Head Start Staff at 402-925-2058 or stop in at 406 East 2nd Street Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Head Start is a comprehensive child development program sponsored by Central Nebraska Community Services, Loup City, NE.
