THURSDAY MARCH 26TH


A Kick-Off Event to launch a free six week library training for pre-retirees is scheduled at the Atkinson Public Library on Thursday, March 26th.  Participants who attend both the kick-off and wrap-up events and participate in the four week online curriculum, will be eligible for the drawing of an Ipod Shuffle!  The class is free but advance registration is required.  Stop by the Atkinson Public Library or call 402-925-2855 to register or get more information 

FRIDAY MARCH 27TH


Inman Community Church will be having a Spaghetti Supper on Friday, March 27th from 5 to 7:30 p.m. They will be serving Spaghetti (sauce with or with out the meat), Garlic Bread, Salad, Dessert, Coffee & Tea.  Cost is $6.50 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.  A Quarter extra for carry out.

The O'Neill Knights of Columbus will be holding a Fish Fry on Friday evenings. Starting at 5:00 and serving till 7:30 at the KC Hall in West O'Neill.  Adults $8 Kids $5 and kids 5 and under eat free.  Come enjoy a great meal every Friday night during lent.

St. Joseph's School will be hosting Kindergarten Round-Up on Friday, March 27th from 1 to 3:15 p.m. Parents will have a brief meeting at 2:30 p.m.  Please RSVP by Friday, March 20th to 402-925-2104

The Amish will be having a Chicken and Fish Fry on Friday, March 27th from 5 to 8 p.m. Located 1 1/4 miles north of Orchard.  Take out is available by calling 402-893-4258

There will be a Bake Sale on Friday, March 27th at the Creighton Public Library from 9 to 11 a.m.  All proceeds go to the Creighton Library Foundation.

Terra Drueke, FNP-C will not be seeing patients in Spencer on Friday, March 27th.  She will see patients at Avera Medical Group in O’Neill. Appointments can be made by calling 402-336-2904.

 

SATURDAY MARCH 28TH & SUNDAY MARCH 29TH


"Would you like to watch the magical movement of hot iron or maybe hear the ring of an anvil?"  The Prairie Blacksmith Club is hosting it's 3rd Annual Blacksmithing Weekend in O'Neill on Saturday, March 28th and Sunday, March 29th at the residence of Irvan Wayman (48926 8772nd Road, O'Neill).  It will start at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. each day.  Come and see what blacksmiths are making today with this age old process.

SATURDAY MARCH 28TH


The Creighton Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 28th at 1 p.m. at the Creighton city park.  Parents and grandparents who have children and grandchildren between the age of infant and 10 who would like to participate in the Easter Egg hunt should meet in the parking lot east of the swimming pool with their children.  In the event of bad weather a public service announcement will be made on the Creighton Community Radio Station 95.9; KBRX radio station 102.9 and posted on the City of Creighton's website and Facebook.

The Clearwater Sons of the American Legion will be holding a Poker Tournament on Saturday, March 28th at the Legion Club in Clearwater.  Sign up is 6:30 p.m. with the tournament starting at 7 p.m.

Saturday, March 28th there will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the Elgin City Park with registration beginning at 10:15 a.m. and the Hunt begins at 11 a.m.  Four different age groups. Ages 2 and under, ages 3 & 4, ages 5 & 6 and ages 7, 8 & 9.

SUNDAY MARCH 29TH


An Easter Cantata entitled "The Cross" will be presented by membersof the Orchard, Page and Ewing communities on Palm Sunday, March 29th.  The director is Matt Maxwell of Orchard. There will be a 3 p.m. performance at the United Methodist Church in Page and a 7 p.m. performance at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Orchard,.  Robyn Kennedy of Page will be doing interpretation for the deaf and hard of hearing as a special feature.  Both performances will be followed by refreshments and fellowship.

There will be a Spaghetti Lunch on Sunday, March 29th at the O'Neill First Presbyterian Church at 12 noon.  This is sponsored by the Youth Group and they will have a free will offering to support their mission trip to Minneapolis.

FRIDAY APRIL 3RD


St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Of O’Neill would like to remind you there is no 7 am mass on Friday, April 3.

There will be an all you can eat community fish fry at the Chambers Community Center on Friday, April 3 from 6 to 8 pm.  Cost is Adults $15, Over 65 $10 and kids under 10 free.


The City of O’Neill would like to remind residents that Good Friday trash pickup will be early, please have your trash out early.  Also on Good Friday the recycling center and landfill will close at 10 am.

The Spencer Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 1:30 p.m. at the Spencer Park.  Children preschool age through 6th grade are welcome to attend.  All the children will receive treat bags and sign up for prize drawings.  Drawings will be held for all age groups after the eggs have been found.  Sponsored by Spencer Businesses and Riverview Livestock 4-H Club.

The Stuart American Legion, Norton-Carlisle Post #115 will be holding an Easter Egg Hunt in the City Park in Stuart on Saturday, April 4th.  Preschool through the 3rd grade are to meet at the Legion Post Home and they will be led to the park at 1 p.m. by Ken Mlinar.

The Page Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Page Park on Saturday, April 4th at 11 a.m. for ages preschool to 4th grade.

A car seat inspection will be held on Tuesday, April 7th from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Please call 402-336-5122 to make an appointment and be sure to bring your child with you! 95% of Holt County's children are NOT correctly secured and are traveling at risk. Don't risk the life of your child, have trained technicians assist you with your car seat.

Royal Q125 Pancake & Sausage Feed will be held Friday, April 10th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Royal Gym.  Free will donation with the proceeds going to help with the celebration on July 17-19, 2015.

Saturday, March 28

The Evergreen Assisted Living Center in O'Neill will be holding their Easter Egg Hunt and Candy Scramble on Friday, April 3 at 3:30 pm at the Evergreen on north Highway 281 O'Neill.

Saturday, April 4

The O'Neill Assembly of God "Great Easter Egg Hunt" will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 11:00 am at Carney Park in South O'Neill.  There will be over 5000 Eggs filled with prizes and candy.  Age groups are 0-2. 3-4. 5-7 and 8-10.

The Chambers Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Chambers Park.  Registration will begin at 1:00PM with the hunt to follow at 1:30.  There will be a special egg hidden in each age group.  That child who finds the special egg will win a keepsake egg painted by Mary Pospichal.  There will be drawings and the winners of the Easter Coloring Contest will be announced.

  • THE CROSS - a community Easter Cantata will be presented on Palm Sunday, March 29 at 3:00 pm at the Page United Methodist Church and at 7:00 pm at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Orchard.  Enjoy an Easter Journey presented by members of churches from Orchard, Page and Ewing. Refreshments will follow each performance

O'NEILL HEAD START


The O'Neill Head Start is currently taking applica;tions for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year.  This is for a morning class only. We serve children ages 3 and 4 in our Preschool.  Children with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.  There is no cost for your child to attend Lucky Learners.  If interested please call 402-336-4309 to schedule a time to fill out an application.

Atkinson Head Start 2015/2016 School Year


The Atkinson Head Start Center is taking applications for the 2015/2016 school year.  Clients must bring copy of income verification documents (most current income tax form, or a year's worth of paycheck stubs etc.) to attach to the completed application form.
Children must be 3-4 years old to be eligible.  Children with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.  It is not necessary for children to be present for the application process.
Your cooperation in coming to the Head Start Center to put in your application will be appreciated.  For more information call the Head Start Staff at 402-925-2058 or stop in at 406 East 2nd Street Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Head Start is a comprehensive child development program sponsored by Central Nebraska Community Services, Loup City, NE.
