Recycling Routes in the City of O'Neill for Monday, September 6th will take place on Tuesday, September 7th due to the Labor Day Holiday. THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 2ND The Emergency Medical Services Program of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will offer a workshop on "START Triage" for emergency medical technicians and first responders. The workshop will be held at the Ewing City Hall on Thursday, September 2nd from 7 to 10 p.m. The workshop is worth 3 continuing education hours. Vaughan Hagberg will show pictures and tell about his and his family's life and work with Far East Broadcasting Company in Manila, The Phillippines. FEBC is a Christain radio mission broadcasting to southeast Asia. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship hall of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spencer. Everyone is welcome.

Attention 4-Her's: Record Books, Camp Scholarships and Diamond Clover Awards are due in the Extension Office by October 1st. West Nile Virus Season has arrived and North Central District Health Department is once again providing surveillance throughout the nine county district and taking phone reports of dead birds and collecting birds for testing beginning May 30th and continuing through October 2010. This year they will be collecting all species of birds in order to detect the presence of West Nile Virus sooner. The health department is requesting that people who see sick, dying or dead birds contact the health department at 1-877-336-2406. North Central District Health Department covers Antelope, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Holt, Keya Paha, Knox, Pierce, and Rock counties.. The O'Neill Public Library has acquired Global Road Warrior, a world-class econtent database offering country by country information on 175 nations and territories. It features more than 8 million words of editorial content, over 6500 color photos and 1575 maps, all presented in a consistent 92 category framework for each country. Created by an international team of researchers, cartographers and writers, Global Road Warrior is continually updated. This database is proving valuable to mutilple educational disciplines and promotes cross cultural understanding through comparative studies. Students working on research, business people engaged in international trade, and anyone planning international travel will find what they need within this site. O'Neill Public Library is offering Global Road Warrior as a free service to students conducting research for international studies in areas of social science, geography and international business. Her artwork consists of a wide variety of subjects to include scenery, wildlife culture from different areas, and nature, hand painted on canvas, wood and glass. Doris' artwork has always been very personal and private, for herself and her family to enjoy! At this time in her life, she would like to share her talents with her extended family and hometown area. So come see her lifelong story told through more than 200 beautiful items from her lifelong collection of art at the Atkinson Public Library during the month of September.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH Old Timer's Rodeo and Jackpot Teamroping will take place at the Burwell Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 4th at 1:30 p.m. To enter call Lori Hughes at 308-730-2657 after 4 p.m. Events include tie down calf roping, men's and women's breakaway, ribbon roping, steer undecorating, team roping, barrel racing and wild horse race. The Bravo Group will be pumping gas and washing windows at Fox's Food Plaza in O'Neill on Saturday, September 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a fundraising project and tips. 130 Year O'Connor Reunion will take place on Saturday, September 4th at O'Conner (5 miles southeast of Greely). SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5TH Sunday, September 5th St. Johns Church in Petersburg, will be holding their 46th Annual Parish Festival. The Social Garden opens at 3 p.m. Roast beef and grilled sausage, potatoes, corn, salad and desserts will be served from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Indoor Bingo from 4 to 8 p.m. Mini auction starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by the main raffle. Adults are $6 and Carry out is $6.50. Children are priced accordingly.
