The City of O'Neill will be accepting nominations for the Hall of Fame until May 30th @ 5:00 p.m.  Nominations must include a written explanation of why you feel your nominee deserves this distinction.

The Wheeler Central Elementary Field Day will be held on Friday, May 9 at 10:00AM. Baseball practice for the Wheeler County Youth League will also be after the track meet after Friday.

The Wheeler County Schools Elementary Track Meet has been postponed to Monday May 12th at 10AM.

SATURDAY MAY 10TH
Stadium Sports in downtown O'Neill will be closed on Saturday May 10th due to graduation.

SUNDAY MAY 11TH
There is a Benefit Pancake Supper for Roger Ritterbush of Atkinson.  It will be held on Sunday May 11th with serving from 5:30 to 8PM.  It will be held at Slyvester Hall in Mills and is sponosred by the Modern Woodman memebers and friends.

Holt County 4-H shooting sports will be having outdoor practice Sunday, May 11, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Fair Grounds at Chambers.

Plan to attend the Benefit Breakfast feed for Karen Steel of Burke on Sunday May 11th at the Burke Civic Center from 8AM to Noon. A Free Will Offering will be taken with funds matched by Modern Woodmen of America. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The United Methodist Church of Verdigre will honor all mothers on Sunday, May 11th at the 10:45 a.m. service.  Everyone's welcome, please plan to
attend!

MONDAY MAY 12TH
The Atkinson/Stuart Ladies Golf League invites any lady interested in golfing or who would just like to have fun to a Fun Night on May 12. Registration is at 5 pm and the golfing will begin at 5:30 pm. Supper will be provided after golfing. You do not need to be a member. Carts will be provided and if you need a set of clubs call Linda at 925-5562 or Susan at 925-2090.

The Wheeler County Elementary Track Meet will be held on Monday May 12th at 10AM.

The O'Neill Gun Club will opening for the season on Monday May 11th for the season of shooting. They will be doing cleaning and repair work beginning at 6:30PM on Monday with shooting to begin around 7:00PM. The club would like to remind everyone that they will be running a Beginner's Shooting
Program this year for anyone wishing to get started in the sport. For more information contact Steve Reiser in O'Neill.

Due to P.E. Fun Day Monday afternoon at the Chambers School there will be no afternoon bus service that day.

TUESDAY MAY 13TH
West Holt Medical Clinic will be providing free sports physcials for the 2008-2009 school year on Tuesday May 13th at West Holt Junior High School in Atkinson from 3 to 4:30PM. All are athletes are invited to attend.

MOPS,  Mothers of Preschoolers will be having their last meeting of the season this Tuesday May 13th at 9:30am at Faith Community Church. Pam Scherer will be talking about cleaning out our closets and our lives. MOPS will treat you with a special waffle bar for brunch, and provide childcare.  
And all MOPS moms, don't forget to invite your moms or someone special to you to join us at the meeting. We look forward to seeing you there.

The Wheeler Central Activities Banquet will be held on Tuesday May 13th at the Wheeler Central Gym in Bartlett. Supper begins at 6PM with the program to follow. Families are encouraged to sit together. Parents of Seniors and Sophomores are asked to bring salads or side dishes while parents of Juniors and Freshman are ask to bring desserts.

Come join Papa Don's Crusaders on Tuesday, May 13th from 5:30 to 7PM and help them Raise some Dough.  Come in to O'Neill's Pizza Hut and Pizza Hut will donate 15% of the net food sales to the Holt County Relay For Life.  Come in eat some great food and help support the Relay For Life.

WEDNESDAY MAY 14TH
There will be a Bargain Buyway meeting on Wednesday, May 14th at 7:30 at the Hideaway in O'Neill. 

Author Dennis Vossberg, writer of Hector's Bliss, will speak at the 5th annual Chambers High School History Fair.  The fair will be held in the gymnasium on Wednesday, May 14.  Vossberg's presentation will begin at 2:00 P.M. with student exhibits to follow.  The public is encouraged to attend.

SATURDAY MAY 17TH
The Lynch American Legion Auxiliary has designated Saturday May 17th as Poppy Day. Please be generous, the money collected for the poppies go to help our Veterans.

MONDAY MAY 19TH
Siouxland Community Blood Bank will hold the O’Neill Community Blood Drive at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O'Neill on Monday, May 19th from Noon to 6:00PM.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY MAY 24TH AND 25TH
The Single Wheelers Square Dance Club of Norfolk, Nebraska, will host its 25th Annual Memorial Weekend Square Dance on Saturday, May 24th and Sunday, May 25th.  The event will be held at the Norfolk Junior High Gymnasium which has a wood floor and is air conditioned.  Registration will begin on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.  Dancing starts at 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 p.m.   Registration will begin on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.  Dancing starts at 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.  For pre-registration forms or more information contact:  Mary L. The Atkinson/St. Joseph's/West Holt Alumni Banquet is Saturday May 24th.

The Ewing FBLA will be holding a Fun Run/Walk and a dodgeball tournament during the Ewing FunFest. Both events will be held on Saturday, May 24 with the Fun Run/Walk starting at 7:00 a.m. and the dodgeball tournament starting at 10:00 a.m. and running as long as need be. SUNDAY MAY 25TH
Molly's Miracle Makers will be hosting a community fundraiser for CureSearch, a childhood cancer research foundation.  The event will be held at Lambert Farms, Sunday May 25th.  This year's theme is "Go Big Red". JUNE EVENTS

TUESDAY -- THURSDAY JUNE 3RD TO JUNE 5TH
The "Drill for Skill" basketball fundamentals camp will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 3rd, 4th and 5th. This camp is open to all area boys that will be entering grades 5th through 8th next school year. All sessions will be held at the O'Neill Elementary School. The cost is $25 and entry forms are available at the O'Neill High School or can be obtained at www.oneillhighschool.org . For any more information contact Wayne Hesse at 336-4505.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY JUNE 4TH AND 5TH
West Boyd School (Spencer Attendance Center) will be hosting “The Chute” basketball camp on June 4th and 5th.  This camp is open to girls and boys, grades 4th thru 12th.  For players entering grades 4 thru 8 next year, the session runs from 1:00 to 4:00 each day.  For players entering grades 9 thru 12 next year, the camp will focus on post/perimeter skills.  These sessions run from 9:00AM to noon.  Entry forms and a $20 (non-refundable) deposit are due April 1st.  Cost of the camp is $55.00.  Forms have been sent to your local high school basketball coach or you may contact Coach Black at West Boyd High School, 402-589-1333 (school) or 402-589-1091 (home).  You may also visit the web site, www.stgsports.com.

TUESDAY JUNE 10TH
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Monday, June 9th from 12:15 till 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 10th from 10:15 a.m. till 4:00 p.m.  Please call Ellen Hansen at 336-2607 for an appointment.  Babysitters will be provided.

A Husker Baseball Camp will be held in O'Neill for area youth on Wednesday June 11th.

Grief Share meets every Tuesday night at 6:30PM at the Atkinson Presbyterian Church.

The O'Neill Diabetes Support Group will meet on the second Monday of every month from September thru May at 7PM at Christ Lutheran Church in O'Neill. For more information call 336-1884 or 336-2431.

The O'Neill Foster Parent Support Group meets the 2nd Monday of every month at the Counseling and Enrichment Center from 6:30-8:30pm.  118 N 5th Street.  For more information, please call 336-4841.  Hosted by Building Blocks for Community Enrichment.

The Atkinson Food Pantry is open every first and third Monday from 2 to 6PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Atkinson.

The O'Neill Food Pantry will be open on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 8:30 to 4p.m. or for an appointment contact Michele at CNCS at 336-4298 ext. 26.

The Holt County Historical Society is open regular hours from 10 AM to 4 PM Monday thru Thursday.

Community Peer Tobacco Cessation Support Groups Meetings on Tuesday evenings from 6pm-7pm at Avera St Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill, Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh on Wednesdays at 7pm-8pm, Osmond Hospital on Thursday evenings at 7pm-8pm. Creighton Area Health Services in Creighton every other Tuesday evening 7:30-8:30.  No pre-registration or cost to attend.

Grief Support Group Meetings are held at the O'Neill United Methodist Church Conference Room on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM. Everyone who has experienced loss or grief for whatever issues in life due to death, divorce, etc. are welcome.

The Neligh Support Group, sponsored by the Lincoln Greater NE Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association meets every Tuesday of the month at the Neligh Public Library at 5. For more information please contact Kathy or Bobbi at 402-887-5428.

KBR-Fibromyalgia Support Group will be having open meetings to the public on the first Thursday of each month at the United Methodist Church in Ainsworth. There will be two meetings, one at 1:30 and also at 7.
